Education and Career to Date

I have an HND in Graphic Design and have worked over the last 20 years as a Graphic Designer in both print and e-commerce roles. I have excellent design and illustration skills and a proven ability to work to deadlines.

In my last role, I was responsible for the design and creation of graphics for an e-commerce company and its website, which included the production of leaflets and labels, email marketing, photography of new products, and maintenance of a content management system containing over 14,000 product photos and brand logos.

Key responsibilities included:

Creating and maintaining imagery for the website (product, categories, brand logos etc.)
Designing promotional image banners for special offers
Composing, shooting and editing photographs for new products
Creating advertising, flyers, labels and other printed materials as required
Designing layouts and imagery for the company newsletter Penorama, using Mailchimp
Producing Blog posts to support specific products/promotions
Assisting the WH Smiths graphics team when required

Interests

I enjoy spending time with my young family. My main interests are Photography, Gardening and Computers.

Ever since I had my first camera I’ve enjoyed composing and capturing images on film, which led me to study photography at A-Level. Even with traditional 35mm film, I enjoyed being able to take full creative control over the development and processing of the images, something which can be taken even further now with digital photography and the post-processing capabilities in Photoshop. I particularly enjoy abstract, still life and landscape images, some of which can be viewed on this site.

Computer graphics is my other passion, I started using drawing and desktop publishing software on my Acorn Archimedes, which sparked my initial interest in the world of graphic design. It was through this pursuit that I also developed a keen interest in computer technology. I have built several PC's from scratch, and have fitted & installed many hardware and software upgrades. Some of these projects were challenging but all were fun to complete.
